Our Story
Meet the Pastor
Jesse Winkler is the Lead Pastor of Westview Church. Jesse and his wife Angie have been married since 1998 and have 3 boys and 1 girl. Though Jesse and Angie were raised in Southern California, they have spent time church planting in Slovakia and Seattle. While in 
Seattle Jesse became a Pastor at Mars Hill Church and planted with the Acts 29 Network in the suburbs where they lived. In the summer of 2009 the Winkler’s felt God calling them to move back to Southern California and plant Westview Church in San Diego. We are sent and supported in various ways by Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Infusion Church, The Resolved, The Fields and Kaleo Church in San Diego.
The Beginnings
In the summer of 2009, when the Winkler’s pulled the moving truck up to the curb at their new house they were met by three families who felt called to help plant a new church in the community. Since then we have been striving to be the church one to another and for this community rather than merely doing church by starting a church service. We began by sharing meals together, hearing each other’s story and how they fit into God’s greater story. We have engaged in authentic relationships with neighbors and people in this community in order to love and serve them. Adding a regular Sunday gathering in the fall of 2010 enables us to have a more visible presence in our community as well as to be equipped by worshipping together in song, sacrament and under the preaching of God’s word.
